Lingfield Point’s ambitious vision to turn the site into one of the most sustainable mixed use communities in the UK – where people can live and work with great facilities in great surroundings – is rapidly becoming a reality.
And, that’s happened by design not by accident – the high quality of thought, imagination and just general (dare we define it) ‘good taste’ that’s gone into planning and making Lingfield Point what it is today is rare in commercial projects.
It has a unique air of playfulness, being ‘fit-for-purpose’ and confidence in a sector dominated by the straight-laced, neutral and highly corporate image.
The masterplan for the site which was designed by renowned architects FAT has been deemed as a work of art in its own right and was shown at the Royal Academy’s Summer Show.
We believe that’s fitting, and if you see the work that’s gone into converting existing commercial buildings into the award winning
office spaces they are today we’re sure you’ll agree.
The buildings have been carefully refurbished and restored to create a vibrant community that’s available to let to businesses of all types and sizes.
One of our biggest customers is the Student Loans Company which has announced that it is creating even more jobs this year to help process the flood of applications that come in during the summer months.
The new influx of staff will take the roll call at Student Loans to more than 1,000 for the first time.
And, that means we’ve reached a milestone, with a total of 2,000 plus people now based at the scores of businesses – large and small.
As a living, breathing, growing entity Lingfield Point believes that its people are the lifeblood of its success and next on the agenda is the start of work on homes to populate the site 24/7.
What’s the attraction? Well, apart from the fact the offices truly have soul and personality. There’s the range of ‘added value’ extras on site such as canteen, Little Lingfields nursery, bike hire, our jogging and fitness trails, our very own mobile beauty spa, plentiful green spaces and a lively calendar of events.

John Orchard, director of parent company Marchday, says Tickle Me.
That’s not to mention the quirky and fun art installations… we are our own art gallery, with art around every corner from the ‘Tickle Me’ wall art to the huge Futurescope installation that is shared with the thousands of drivers who pass it each day.
The next stage of development will see us deliver our ‘grey water’ recycling allowing us to use collected rainwater in maintaining our landscaping that will in turn help us cultivate our on-site allotments to provide fresh salad, vegetables and fruits to canteen.
Getting to work without a car is a cinch and our green travel plan is really working but if you want to drive there’s loads of parking too.
Our plan is to take the site back to the pioneering spirit of Patons and Baldwins who, all those years ago, worked really hard to create a community where people could simply walk to work, drop off their kids, eat good food and generally enjoy a true community spirit – we’re winning.
