Our Stash Busting Surgeries every Monday are aimed at people that hoard material, ribbon, pretty buttons and embellishments but with no idea what they are going to do with them! Our artist in residence is now available to lend a hand through these supportive sessions – she’ll help turn your little gems into treasure – making gifts galore for people to take home or give to loved ones.

As a great base for start-up businesses and global  giants alike, we’re delighted to see one of our longest and most loyal customers invest over £10million in their business at Lingfield Point.

The expansion came about after the Chief Executive of Turtle Beach – the world number one in gaming audio – visited the UK from the firm’s HQ in New York and loved our life at lingfield.

Turtle Beach toured the North East looking for the best site for the company – and came back to the firm’s original base at Lingfield Point where they had been customers for over 10 years.

How much colour has your world got? We love adding colour to ours! »

We often talk about life at lingfield, our creative and unique office space and the atmosphere around of neighhbourhood.

But how do we achieve this? Colour plays an important part in achieving a sense of community – just look at the success of Dulux’s global community intitiative – Let’s Colour.  We love the kaliedoscope of colour – you’ll see it around every corner here at Lingfield Point – its a fundemental part of our art strategy but also in the way we design our offices.  Colour provides a subtle statement and the beauty of colour means you can choose the statement you want to make.

The colours used around our creative office space across the 107 acre business park make bold statements – we’re creative; we’re productive & most importantly we’re a community!

Fun with colour and inspirational statements add life to lingfield

YARN – our latest office space based in Lingfield House – uses the colour red to the maximum – and is one of the busiest and creative locations in our neighbourhood. Even our corridors around our buildings don’t escape treatment – again YARN painted in a dark grey now feels shorter – a great trick – and with the beautiful white yarn now installed makes a great statement that also pays homage to our historic links with Patons and Baldwins.

Bold colours work well with contrast – YARN at Lingfield Point

Take stroll across to the national award-winning Student Loans  Company where you’ll find great use of the colour green – in every variation- all helping to made this hard-working, pressurised environment feel calm, easy and stable.

Green is an important colour at the award-winning Student Loans Company

Our external areas don’t escape a touch of colour either – take tickle me – a great piece of artwork full of colour but also our most recent poster campaign – bright statements backed up with colour encouraging people to feel proud of the work they do and the environment they work in – all wrapped up in a cheeky statement or two.

Tickle me!

They’ve made such a difference to our neighbourhood – watch this space where even more will appear soon.

We love colour – it lights up our life here at Lingfield!

If you’re a business wanting more colour in your world – give us a call on 01325 486486 – we can certainly provide a colourful backdrop for your business -  in the shape and size you need from 250sqft.

We’d love to welcome DfE – helping to save the local economy, the local environment and local jobs! »

Having launched ‘Rocket’ to meet the potential needs of Department for Education (DfE) – currently based in Mowden Hall – we think Lingfield Point fits the bill for both a North East base and the region’s carbon footprint.

We’ve worked out that moving 480 public sector jobs from Darlington would have a massive impact on the region’s carbon footprint.

DfE should consider their carbon footprint in the North East

Figures show that even if workers shared journeys to say – Newcastle – in a week, they would clock up a massive 96,000 miles – that’s four-and-a-half million miles annually.

And, according to carbon footprint.com when travelling in an average Ford Fiesta 1.4 less than four years old, that equates to 25.76 tonnes of carbon a week.

Equally shocking is the cost of the travel in terms of fuel for this base – £14,148 a week or £664,956 for a 47 week year!

“This is an ideal opportunity for the government to practise what it preaches and consider the impact of such a move.  We’ve got a great public transport system in Darlington that links into the on-site bus service straight into the town centre.”

“You simply don’t get any better – we’re convenient, cost-effective and conscious of their carbon footprint.” said John Orchard, director of Marchday – owners of Lingfield Point.

“When you look at the extortionate travel costs and the massive impact on the carbon footprint, it makes simple and sustainable common sense to keep these important jobs in Darlington,” said Jenny Chapman MP.

Transport is not a problem for Lingfield Point – buses pass the entrance every ten minutes, there are car sharing schemes, cycle routes and site is only ten minutes from the train station.

John believes that sustainable business park Lingfield Point would offer the ideal base for the DFE workers when they are moved from Mowden Hall in the town – due to the building’s poor condition.

More than 1,100 people have signed The Northern Echo’s petition to keep the jobs in Darlington, after warning that the town will take a £21m annual hit to its economy if they move away.

The Tees Valley Unlimited (TVU) local enterprise partnership has suggested a transfer out of Darlington will cost the town £21m a year – of which 70 per cent is currently spent in the local economy.

Still wondering if Lingfield Point is the best postcode for DfE in the North East?

Have a watch of our credentials below and find out why Lingfield Point is the best postcode in town!

So what are you waiting for DfE – feel the difference in Darlington!

Work starts on our new homes – a new chapter of Life at Lingfield begins! »

We’ve got a spring in our step now that work has started on homes that will help take forward one of Europe’s most ambitious masterplans for a sustainable mixed-use community.

We’ve just welcomed diggers to create an access road for the new Taylor Wimpey ‘Millfields’ site at the McMullen Road entrance to Lingfield Point where a range of contemporary homes will start to appear over the next few months.

John, left, & Mark Leigh of  Taylor Wimpey look at the exciting vision for Millfields

Our next chapter of Life at Lingfield harks back to the site’s halcyon days as Paton & Baldwin’s wool factory where people lived their lives around this 107-acre hub of activity.

We already boast one of the North’s most successful business parks where around 2,500 people work each day – now we’ll be able to add a true live/work low carbon community – great news for Darlington.

Over the next 10 years, we’ll be creating homes, parkland, sports facilities as well as health facilities, shops and restaurants – a new neighbourhood with sustainability and care at its heart – not forgetting the continued development of high spec, creative business space.

John Orchard, director of Marchday which owns Lingfield Point, said: “When we began developing Lingfield Point we had an ambitious vision of turning the site into one of the most sustainable mixed use communities in Europe – where people could live and work with great facilities in great surroundings.

“Today we’re happy and proud to say that our vision is rapidly becoming a reality, and that reality is that we offer more – Lingfield Point is more than just a workplace or a place to live, it is a way of life.

“Our businesses have access to everything from ‘grow your own’ allotments, honey beehives, a ‘Happy Fit Camp,’ health and lifestyle advice, art around every corner, craft courses, gardening courses and bike hire and 3 direct bus services into Darlington.

“We aim to reflect that in the on-site facilities that will be available for homeowners – creating a true Lingfield community”.

The Millfields development will include two, three and four bedroom houses in seven different styles and a range of special terms are on offer to help buyers move.

Lingfield Point launches ‘Rocket’ that could save vital DFE jobs for Darlington »

Never one to rest on laurels after the arrival of AMEC – we’re excited about our latest office offer ‘Rocket’ – knowing that this exciting new space could be perfect for Department for Education – saving 100s of local jobs.

Lingfield Point welcomed AMEC and its 500 staff to Meadow recently and join Student Loans Company, NAAFI and Darlington Borough Council as major customers now based at Lingfield Point and with Rocket ready for blast off – we know we’ve got space to welcome further large scale public or private sector businesses here.

Rocket – our latest office space at Lingfield Point

John Orchard, director of Marchday, which owns Lingfield Point, says Rocket and a further development, Wool Lofts, are exciting news.

“These are both remarkable buildings – each is a landmark in its own way – and will fit in with our ethos of designing and creating ‘offices with soul,” he said.

“We’ve been working with internationally renowned architects FAT to create stunning designs that will take full advantage of their original features and ‘upcycle’ them into office spaces.”

Rocket is a 100,000 sq ft single floor plate building hewn out of the original wool factory building with capacity for over 1,000 people but can be split simply to fit any need. A dedicated entrance and piazza gives way to a high specification, open-plan office with raised floors and flexible workspace.

John said: “Rocket is ideal for headquarters, call centres and back office support centres and will offer a cracking combination of high specification office space and a delightful landscaped environment joining a community full of character and plenty of engaging facilities.”

We’re proud to learn that we’re widely acknowledged as a great location for both public and private sector thanks to the range of services and facilities now available.

Wool Lofts is another hard-to-miss building, the tallest on the 107-acre site.

John said: “More than 16,000 sq ft is available over four floors at Wool Lofts – totally self-contained – with a dedicated feature entrance and plaza and plenty of natural light. It’s a lofty and relaxed working space that can easily be sub-divided for efficiency, creating floor areas ranging from 4,300 to over 16,000 sq ft.”

The development of Rocket and Wool Lofts will be the latest in the transformation of Lingfield Point from the original Patons and Baldwins wool factory, into what will become a sustainable mixed-use regeneration scheme where people will be able to live, work and play.

John Orchard said: “Our success and the fact we are now able to move onto the next stage show that what we offer at Lingfield Point is exactly the kind of up-to-the-minute office spaces that thriving businesses are looking for.”

Lingfield Point team up with Wayne Hemingway to bring you Festival of Thrift in Darlington »

We’re proud to announce that we have teamed up with design hero Wayne Hemingway MBE to stage the world’s first Festival of Thrift at Lingfield Point, Darlington.

We’re proud to announce our latest venture!

Since Hemingway Design enjoyed a recent tour around Lingfield Point – probably one of the biggest upcycling projects in the UK – we’ve been working together thinking about how we can harness our creativity to celebrate upcycling both on a grand scale – as Lingfield Point demonstrates – through to how we – as individuals – can make easy changes to help our home (and impact on the environment!)

The Festival will showcase skills in making and upcycling clothes and furniture, knitting, weaving as well as growing your own fruit and veg. There will also be an area called ‘money saving tips around the home’ which will feature simple ways to save energy. Marchday’s John Orchard explains:

We’re all really excited about this; we’ve never been involved in a festival before but with our location, ease of access and range of people now working on site – it’s going to be quite an event.

It’s great to be working with Wayne, who has been arranging high-profile, successful festivals for some time now.

Yes, the Festival of Thrift will showcase many of the core values of Lingfield Point……but the main purpose will be to have fun!

We hope it will show people what a creative town Darlington is and what a fantastic quality of life people enjoy here.

The festival will take place in late summer this year.

Date to be released soon so watch this space!

Northern Beauties! »

The North East often gets overlooked by the national media, much of which is based in London; so we’re doing our bit to redress the balance!

The wonderful Rockliffe Hall Spa.

Recently, two unrelated awards for the best Office and the best Hotel in the whole of the UK went to two projects in a small town in the North East - Darlington! Who’d have thought it? Both projects reuse remarkable landmark buildings which had lost their viable use. It just so happens that Marchday own one of the award winners, Lingfield Point, which won the British Council for Offices National award for Best Recycled Office space. The other, Rockliffe Hall, a spectacular Hotel, Golf and Spa resort owned by Steve Gibson, owner of Middlesbrough Football Club, won the ‘Visit England’ Best Large Hotel award. Darlington has a rich history of innovation and excellence being the birthplace of the world’s railways and Barclays Bank. Indeed, Rockliffe Hall built in the 1850′s was originally the home of the Backhouse family, the bank’s founders. Lingfield Point is a dynamic modern business community created within the 1950′s buildings of the Paton & Baldwins landmark wool factory. We think it’s amazing that these good news stories weren’t celebrated more widely. That’s probably because nobody had heard the good news - well they have now!

The wonderful Lingfield Point!
