Turtle-ly chuffed about our latest customer – Turtle Beach makes a £10million investment at Lingfield Point »

As a great base for start-up businesses and global  giants alike, we’re delighted to see one of our longest and most loyal customers invest over £10million in their business at Lingfield Point.

Lygo International is making a £10million expansion after being bought by American giant Turtle Beach and will change its name to become part of the Turtle Beach family moving to a 120,000 sqft warehouse within Lingfield Point.

The expansion came about after the Chief Executive of Turtle Beach – the world number one in gaming audio – visited the UK from the firm’s HQ in New York and loved our life at lingfield.

Turtle Beach toured the North East looking for the best site for the company – and came back to the firm’s original base at Lingfield Point where they had been customers for over 10 years.

Eddie Humphries, left and Paul Crooks of Turtle Beach discuss the £10milliom investment at Lingfield Point

“The facilities at Lingfield Point are second to none and the fact that Turtle Beach looked around the North East and couldn’t find anything to rival their them proves the point”

As well as the quality of the space and the excellent facilities on site another draw was the availability of 10mg broadband – which offers the online firm great connectivity.

Eddie Humphries, Estate Manager, said: “The company has been a long-term customer here at Lingfield Point and its fantastic to see the ambitious firm doing so well.  We take great pride in knowing that our customers enjoy our environment and continue to grow – it’s a massive vote of confidence and a thumbs up for our service standard, Lingfield Point and of course Darlington as a great destination for business”

We’re delighted to welcome Turtle Beach to our neighbourhood – adding to the ever-increasing list of businesses based at Lingfield Point

How much colour has your world got? We love adding colour to ours! »

We often talk about life at lingfield, our creative and unique office space and the atmosphere around of neighhbourhood.

But how do we achieve this? Colour plays an important part in achieving a sense of community – just look at the success of Dulux’s global community intitiative – Let’s Colour.  We love the kaliedoscope of colour – you’ll see it around every corner here at Lingfield Point – its a fundemental part of our art strategy but also in the way we design our offices.  Colour provides a subtle statement and the beauty of colour means you can choose the statement you want to make.

The colours used around our creative office space across the 107 acre business park make bold statements – we’re creative; we’re productive & most importantly we’re a community!

Fun with colour and inspirational statements add life to lingfield

YARN – our latest office space based in Lingfield House – uses the colour red to the maximum – and is one of the busiest and creative locations in our neighbourhood. Even our corridors around our buildings don’t escape treatment – again YARN painted in a dark grey now feels shorter – a great trick – and with the beautiful white yarn now installed makes a great statement that also pays homage to our historic links with Patons and Baldwins.

Bold colours work well with contrast – YARN at Lingfield Point

Take stroll across to the national award-winning Student Loans  Company where you’ll find great use of the colour green – in every variation- all helping to made this hard-working, pressurised environment feel calm, easy and stable.

Green is an important colour at the award-winning Student Loans Company

Our external areas don’t escape a touch of colour either – take tickle me – a great piece of artwork full of colour but also our most recent poster campaign – bright statements backed up with colour encouraging people to feel proud of the work they do and the environment they work in – all wrapped up in a cheeky statement or two.

Tickle me!

They’ve made such a difference to our neighbourhood – watch this space where even more will appear soon.

We love colour – it lights up our life here at Lingfield!

If you’re a business wanting more colour in your world – give us a call on 01325 486486 – we can certainly provide a colourful backdrop for your business -  in the shape and size you need from 250sqft.

We’d love to welcome DfE – helping to save the local economy, the local environment and local jobs! »

Having launched ‘Rocket’ to meet the potential needs of Department for Education (DfE) – currently based in Mowden Hall – we think Lingfield Point fits the bill for both a North East base and the region’s carbon footprint.

We’ve worked out that moving 480 public sector jobs from Darlington would have a massive impact on the region’s carbon footprint.

DfE should consider their carbon footprint in the North East

Figures show that even if workers shared journeys to say – Newcastle – in a week, they would clock up a massive 96,000 miles – that’s four-and-a-half million miles annually.

And, according to carbon footprint.com when travelling in an average Ford Fiesta 1.4 less than four years old, that equates to 25.76 tonnes of carbon a week.

Equally shocking is the cost of the travel in terms of fuel for this base – £14,148 a week or £664,956 for a 47 week year!

“This is an ideal opportunity for the government to practise what it preaches and consider the impact of such a move.  We’ve got a great public transport system in Darlington that links into the on-site bus service straight into the town centre.”

“You simply don’t get any better – we’re convenient, cost-effective and conscious of their carbon footprint.” said John Orchard, director of Marchday – owners of Lingfield Point.

“When you look at the extortionate travel costs and the massive impact on the carbon footprint, it makes simple and sustainable common sense to keep these important jobs in Darlington,” said Jenny Chapman MP.

Transport is not a problem for Lingfield Point – buses pass the entrance every ten minutes, there are car sharing schemes, cycle routes and site is only ten minutes from the train station.

John believes that sustainable business park Lingfield Point would offer the ideal base for the DFE workers when they are moved from Mowden Hall in the town – due to the building’s poor condition.

More than 1,100 people have signed The Northern Echo’s petition to keep the jobs in Darlington, after warning that the town will take a £21m annual hit to its economy if they move away.

The Tees Valley Unlimited (TVU) local enterprise partnership has suggested a transfer out of Darlington will cost the town £21m a year – of which 70 per cent is currently spent in the local economy.

Still wondering if Lingfield Point is the best postcode for DfE in the North East?

Have a watch of our credentials below and find out why Lingfield Point is the best postcode in town!

So what are you waiting for DfE – feel the difference in Darlington!

Work starts on our new homes – a new chapter of Life at Lingfield begins! »

We’ve got a spring in our step now that work has started on homes that will help take forward one of Europe’s most ambitious masterplans for a sustainable mixed-use community.

We’ve just welcomed diggers to create an access road for the new Taylor Wimpey ‘Millfields’ site at the McMullen Road entrance to Lingfield Point where a range of contemporary homes will start to appear over the next few months.

John, left, & Mark Leigh of  Taylor Wimpey look at the exciting vision for Millfields

Our next chapter of Life at Lingfield harks back to the site’s halcyon days as Paton & Baldwin’s wool factory where people lived their lives around this 107-acre hub of activity.

We already boast one of the North’s most successful business parks where around 2,500 people work each day – now we’ll be able to add a true live/work low carbon community – great news for Darlington.

Over the next 10 years, we’ll be creating homes, parkland, sports facilities as well as health facilities, shops and restaurants – a new neighbourhood with sustainability and care at its heart – not forgetting the continued development of high spec, creative business space.

John Orchard, director of Marchday which owns Lingfield Point, said: “When we began developing Lingfield Point we had an ambitious vision of turning the site into one of the most sustainable mixed use communities in Europe – where people could live and work with great facilities in great surroundings.

“Today we’re happy and proud to say that our vision is rapidly becoming a reality, and that reality is that we offer more – Lingfield Point is more than just a workplace or a place to live, it is a way of life.

“Our businesses have access to everything from ‘grow your own’ allotments, honey beehives, a ‘Happy Fit Camp,’ health and lifestyle advice, art around every corner, craft courses, gardening courses and bike hire and 3 direct bus services into Darlington.

“We aim to reflect that in the on-site facilities that will be available for homeowners – creating a true Lingfield community”.

The Millfields development will include two, three and four bedroom houses in seven different styles and a range of special terms are on offer to help buyers move.

Broadband brings business alive in Darlington… and about time too! »

We’re welcoming plans for BT’s roll out of high-speed fibre broadband and it can’t come soon enough!

Fast, sophisticated communications are the cornerstone of a successful business community – and we should know.  We’ve already invested in a 100mg leaseline to plug the gap due to BT’s infrastructure shortfall.

This £10,000 investment has been welcomed by our customers who have taken advantage of our range of connectivity packages – giving them the competitive edge they crave.

Lingfield House and YARN – now home to our latest business community –  benefits from this dedicated leaseline and customers can simply tap into a low cost monthly agreement – with no fixed (or expensive) penalties if they need to leave. Available direct from our partnership with Blue Saffron- one of the UK’s largest independent IT and Communications specialists, we’re pleased to add this to the many services customers can now enjoy.

Great news indeed to learn that BT are finally upgrading infrastructure that will allow Darlington to gain the competitive edge it deserves – helping secure jobs and continued investment in our community.

Be a Santa to A Senior this Christmas »

As time moves swiftly towards the festive season, we’re proud to be associated with a heart-warming new initiative in our neighbourhood especially aimed at our much-loved older generation.

Spread some festive cheer

The gift-giving scheme, called ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ run by ‘AT HOME’ care company, Home Instead Senior Care, based in Lingfield House, will see gifts distributed to elderly people in the community thanks to Age UK Darlington.

You’ll find Christmas trees in our cafe ‘canteen by Alexander MacMurray’ and on the balcony of its spectacular art deco centrepiece Lingfield House decorated with ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’  gift tags, which have suggestions of the type of gift that would be welcome by older people.

With over 2,500 people using our office space in Darlington – we hope we’ll bring some warmth to a few hearts this winter by purchasing appropriate gifts and then leaving them ‘under the tree’ for collection by the Home Instead team.

Eddie Humphries, Lingfield Point’s Estate Manager, said: “We see ourselves as very much part of the community of Darlington and that is reflected in our ‘Lingfield Life’ culture.

“Lingfield Point is very community focused with great facilities, regular activities and events aimed at bringing people together to enrich their working lives – so it comes naturally to extend that to try to prevent any elderly people from feeling isolated and forgotten at Christmas.”

“We’ll be doing all we can to help make ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ a huge success. The trees and collection boxes are already on display and we are looking forward to receiving donations.”

Diane Chandler, owner of Home Instead, Darlington, said: “We are really excited about the launch of this scheme and are delighted that Lingfield Point has decided to partner with us to allow us to distribute gifts to local people who really need them.

Jeanette from canteen (left) and Diane enjoy collecting presents for Santa to a Senior

“We provide care to older people in their own homes. These people are assured of regular company from their caregivers but we hope that ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ will allow us to reach out to the many older people who, perhaps, don’t receive as many visitors as our clients and who would really appreciate knowing that local people are thinking about them this Christmas.”

‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ was launched in the United States in 2006 and, to date, the initiative has helped provide 1.2 million gifts to more than 700,000 older people.
