Singing for your supper – with songs for Malawi

We, and other employees from offices at Lingfield Point, really enjoyed the impromptu performance from the beautiful and talented Matilda Wood yesterday.  Taking place in the vintage snug at our cafe, canteen by alexander macmurray, we were treated with songs to help raise money for her year-long trek to work with children in Malawi.

Malawi welcomes Matilda

With a stunning voice and accompanied by an acoustic guitar, Matilda sets off on the year-long adventure in August 2012.  Chosen from hundreds of applicants, she already had to endure a rigorous 4 day selection course on the Isle of Coll where she was selected to go overseas and teach in a primary school environment on the shore of Lake Malawi or work in an orphanage on the outskirts of Blantyre.

Matilda’s performance was part of Lingfield Point’s social summer calendar – one of the many advantages that employees – and companies – can take advantage of.  This calendar of events, our concierge, and service standard all add to the character and culture of life at Lingfield.

Matilda, a Carmel College A-level student, also performed and jammed with our very own pre-school children from little lingfields nursery  – soon to all go on their own big adventure – stepping into big school in September!

We wish both Matilda and our little lingfield graduates – the very best of luck – and we certainly look forward to hearing about Matilda’s adventures and beauty of Malawi when she returns to Darlington.
