Beating the blues – enjoying our service full of sunshine at Lingfield Point »

Even if the sun isn’t shining, we like to create our own bit of warmth at Lingfield Point.  Our Beat the blues event certainly helped bring some sunshine to our friends and colleagues on one of the bleakest weeks of the year.

Thanks to Darlington Borough Council and Nhs Darlington, we programmed a range of taster sessions including nordic walking and zumba along with plenty of advice to keep healthy, along with an opportunity to meet our new fit bug in Beehive where you can help track and manage your health – a welcome addition to our family.

There were loads of tips and suggested ways of keeping healthy and our personal favourite was the delicious free fruit smoothies prepared for all to try.  If you fancy a quick treat at home, a fruit smoothie certainly fits the bill.  All you need is a wee bit of fruit and a blender!

Our favourite was the strawberry smoothie. 6 – 10 strawberries; 120ml plain yoghurt; 1 banana (optional) and a quick drip of honey (optional).  Blend until smooth.  Yum!

Lower Costs and Better Service – Is it wrong to want both? »

A number of our customers are significant public sector organizations who are having to cut costs dramatically in line with Government targets. Marchday- owners of Lingfield Point -  are actively working with customers to rationalize their occupational and service delivery costs.

In the midst of this atmosphere of frenzied cost cutting it is easy to forget quality of customer service. In a way, giving or expecting to receive excellent service almost feels too good, wrong even; extravagant in this harsh new world of austerity.

We believe you should be able to have both. At Lingfield Point we have committed to providing continued excellent customer service, remarkable workplaces, at the best price.

We’ve got some great case studies in terms of savings and service standards and are happy to share this with any organisation that are having to make some tough decisions.  We wholeheartedly believe that the call to cut costs can still result in spaces where people enjoy coming to work, are efficient, productive and have fun. This is undoubtedly a huge challenge but, along with our exceptional teams we are in great shape to help our customers enjoy the best of both worlds.

Beat the Blues…. and smile! »

We’re always keen to ensure our customers and colleagues smile with satisfaction when experiencing our offer at Lingfield Point.  A smile costs nothing and the feeling generated is simply immeasureable.

Here at Lingfield Point, we’re well known for our innovative and creative events and promotions – all helping people smile and enjoy their time at Lingfield Point.  During these dark winter months, we work even harder to keep the fun factor alive.

Feeling the Blues? Chase them away at Lingfield Point

Black Monday is here – 17 January -  the date that most people fall off the wagon with their New Year’s resolutions revolving around health, fitness and well being.  Our ‘Beat the Blues’ promotion at Beehive on 25 January will certainly help our customers  to stay on track and make 2011 a fitter and healthier year.

Working in conjunction with Darlington Borough Council and Nhs Darlington, we’re bringing an event bursting with enthusiasm for the healthy things in life. Health checks; mini MOTs for the eyes, body and even the soul are available with healthy eating advice, smoking cessation support and Zumba demonstrations to get you wiggling through these winter months.

We’ve even organised a couple of sessions of Nordic walking – in the Beehive Street – you’d be amazed at how many calories can be burned off by a easy walk over lunchtime – and a blast of fresh air brings out a bounce in us all.

A more permanent feature at Beehive, is the introduction of our new friend, the fit bug. Available to all customers across Lingfield Point, the fit bug offers the opportunity to keep track of your weight, body mass index, pulse and heart rate.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2011.

An alternative to Westminster’s outdated Palace? »

John Orchard of Marchday recently spent a chilly day in snowy Westminster highlighting the irony of the Government’s call to Councils around the country to cut their costs by up to 30% whilst their own running costs remain unchanged.

The House of Commons buildings cost a whopping £208,000,000 a year to run. Surely now is the time for the Government to lead by example and relocate to more sustainable, futureproof offices outside of expensive central London.

This thinking is in line with the Government’s own; in the last few years they have commissioned expensive, detailed reports looking at decentralising civil servant functions from Westminster into the regions. This would save tax payers’ money and create jobs in those areas hardest hit. So why hasn’t it happened?

Developments such as Marchday’s Lingfield Point in Darlington (which already houses a cluster of Public Sector organisations) would be a perfect home for these functions, bringing new jobs to the North East, a region badly hit by the loss of manufacturing and public sector jobs. These buildings are low energy, low cost and allow modern businesses to work efficiently – not a claim that can be made of the beautiful Palace of Westminster!

New homes at Lingfield Point »

We are often asked when the first new homes at Lingfield Point will be built. Well, we’re delighted to tell you that we are very close to choosing our residential development partner and that new homes will be started at Lingfield Point within a year.

Exciting housing plans - part of our £100million masterplan

We’ve spoken to many potential partners and despite the general gloom hanging over the residential market have found them all keen to build. It is essential that we find a partner who’s thinking was aligned with our own in terms of design and commitment to the sustainable mixed community.

We’re close to doing that and will be unveiling our new partner shortly. Watch this space!
