Futurescope installation

About Futurescope

Darlington's Lingfield Point business park will be the focal point for an ambitious new public art and culture programme, which sets out to achieve iconic status as strong and as meaningful as the Angel of the North.

The initial visual manifestation of the strategy will be 'futurescope'. A radically high profile project, Futurescope will set the pace for the strategy and publically declare the business park's ambition to be the place where art happens.

'Futurescope' is a two-year-long sequential, outdoor exhibition of eight massive circular photographs and images attached to the eastern elevation of the currently derelict power house, which faces Darlington's new Eastern Transport Corridor. Changing with the seasons, the giant images will make a major visual statement to people travelling on the new Eastern Transport Corridor through Darlington. Sited at the new front door to the town, the images will relay messages, making oblique references to the past, present and future at Lingfield Point and Darlington.
